Bindy Mackenzie wins Davitt Award

I am very happy and proud to announce that Bindy Mackenzie has won the 2007 Davitt Award for Best Young Adult Crime Novel. The award is administered by the Sisters in Crime. I would have loved to attend the prize ceremony in Melbourne but I am just back from a few weeks in New York, where I was speaking at the NCTE Conference, and promoting The Spell Book of Listen Taylor, and taking Charlie to Central Park. As soon as I wake up, I will write about the trip to New York. In the meantime, here's Charlie in Central Park.

Congratulations. I went through teenagerhood with the Brookfield High books and loved Bindy.

Congratulations! I reread Bindy just two weeks ago and remembered how much I loved it. Definitely a worthy recipient!

Love your books. And though I am not somebody who generally coos over babies, I must say you have one of the most beautiful children I've ever seen.

Next time you go on tour, can you please post the info on your website so us crazy stalker fans can come hear you speak?

Congratulations on winning the award--Bindy Mackenzie is my favourite of all your books. Also, I'm sure Charlie must have loved Central Park. I'm not sure what it looks like but it's famous so it's probably interesting.

this isn't meant as an insult, but you're really weird, did you know that? i've been trolling all over the web, trying to figure out if you're going to write any more of those penpal books, and this popped up. i started reading and then ended up going right through all your blogs. you write almost exactly like my sister does. sort of whimsical and nonsensical, and also very hysterical. i adore your books, and if you could let me know when there might be another brookfield penpal book coming so that i might stop pining? that would be great. and do write another post as well, for they make me laugh and remind me of my sister.
congrats on the award, keme.

I love all your comments. Thank you very much. I am getting a real website soon, so everything will change and I'll make announcements about touring. Also, anonymous, I'm not insulted that you think I'm really weird or that you think I'm like your sister. I'm glad.
best wishes to everyone,
Jaclyn
